Modeler & Happy Path: Role Assignments in Lanes
With our May 15 release, BPM Managers and Process Designers can now already assign roles in lanes in the Modeler. Instead of simply renaming the lane, you can now use the new pen icon to assign responsibilities defined for the organization created in Bpanda. The assigned users, groups, org. units or org. roles are then listed in the process overview under Process Participants. Assignment can be carried out in both the Modeler and the Happy Path. Simply use the pen next to the lane. This means you can select responsibilities already defined by your organization in Bpanda and don’t use the wrong terminology or spell something differently. Correct assignments means that the process is already integrated into the process landscape and all roles stored in the process can be notified accordingly upon release. As soon as you make changes to the assigned lanes in a process draft and submit the draft as a process revision, then the changes you have made to roles (e.g. what you have added/removed) will be shown.

Modeler Preferences: Explanations & Validations for Lanes
To go hand-in-hand with assigning roles in lanes in the Modeler, Bpanda now also has two new validations. You can now set whether you want a warning or an error to appear if role assignments are missing in the lane and a different lane name exists for role assignment. All validations in Bpanda now have an explanation of what exactly it means and why you should pay attention to it. Explanations can be found by clicking on the question marks next to the validations in the Modeler settings. You can see these in the Modeler when modeling the process by hovering over the respective warning or error with the mouse. This helps you to know what you need to change before you can submit the draft.
We have also fixed a few small bugs which customers found in this release.
You can add an extra process-specific competence for Process Owners and Process Collaborators in the “Settings and Information” area of a process. This information is shown as a tag in the process overview. An error message stating that this information could not be assigned sometimes used to appear since the last release. This has now been fixed and assignment works again as expected.
There are various validations available in the Modeler settings, including ones about missing conditions in gateways. This release corrects the previous warnings and error messages for all types of gateway. In accordance with BPMN 2.0, Bpanda now always informs you about any missing conditions for inclusive, exclusive and complex gateways.
